ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:

Join tutor Emma Bowden to make wonderful clay sculptures. We will use air-hardening clay so you can take your creations with you at the end and paint them at home. Remember to come in old clothes, as clay can get messy! Bring a cardboard box (shoe-box size is perfect, but a little smaller or bigger will also work) to take your piece home in safely.

WHAT TO BRING:

Please bring a snack and a bottle of water, or there is a coffee bar on site. There will be a break to eat your snack during the workshop. Materials are provided and we will be using Air-drying clay so that you can take your sculpture home with you. Please wear old clothes or an apron and bring a cardboard box to take your piece home in.

School Holiday: Teens Introduction to Oil Painting (12-17 Yrs)

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

This fun, hands-on workshop is designed for teens who want to explore the world of oil painting. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some experience, you’ll learn the fundamentals of working with oils, including colour mixing, brush techniques, layering, and how to build a painting step by step. Students can bring their own image to work from or choose from a selection of supplied reference images. With guidance and individual support throughout, you’ll develop confidence, creativity, and practical skills while creating your own finished oil painting to take home. All materials are provided.

ABOUT THE TUTOR

Lizzy Freemantle is predominantly a figurative oil painter known for her narrative layered work that explores connections and patterns through time. Her work, explores many classical themes and ideas from early iconography and influences throughout art history, reworking ideas from the Renaissance all the way to the postmodern period. She studied atelier training with Sadie Valeri and has attended many workshops with many world renowned artists. She has a BA in Art History. She has shown in prestigious exhibitions in London such as the ING Discerning eye, Green & Stone Summer exhibition and in and around Oxford and Buckinghamshire. Young artists can brush up their painting, drawing and collaging skills in this class with art tutor Lindsey Grexhammer.

Using paint, oil pastels, watercolour pencils, coloured pencils and collage the children will learn how to draw or make all the creatures and plants of coral reefs that they can imagine.

Each 2.5 hour session gives young creatives a chance to work on a pottery project guided by an expert tutor.

Pottery Throwing

Learn to use a pottery wheel or develop your skills in this beginner-friendly throwing session, in which we will cover the basics as well as challenging ourselves to try a range of shapes and forms using a variety of techniques.

Spaces are limited, so be sure to book in advance.

Bonkers Bubble Art!

Ages 7-11 Yrs

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Go bonkers this holiday with bubbles and string. It’s such fun to blow coloured bubbles onto paper to create a background and practice effects from pulling string. Then take any shapes you see - say an animal or other favourite thing - and make your chosen thing ‘emerge’ from the bubbles using materials like pencil or ink and more bubbles. Practice drawing a favourite animal for your picture. Finally, embellish, embellish, embellish.

Anastasia is a third generation multimedia artist and believes that art is a journey not a formula. She’s also experienced with children, having masqueraded as Anarainbow the Entertainer since 2012.

Teens Pottery workshop: Doorway to Another World

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:

It is often said that doors are portals to other places and sometimes even other worlds. In this workshop we will use traditional pottery handbuilding techniques to create our very own magical doors along with their setting and surroundings. As we sculpt, inspired by images and paintings, we will create stories to accompany the doors and further inform the details we add. Remember to come in old clothes as clay can be messy, and bring along some of your own images (ideally printed or drawn, if possible!) to add to the resources available on the day to draw inspiration from.

WHAT TO BRING:

Please bring with you a snack and a bottle of water, or there is a coffee bar on site. There will be a break to eat your snack during the workshop. Please wear old clothes and bring an apron and a cardboard box to take your creation home in!
