Still Life in Acrylics (one-day course)

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
We're welcoming back the artist Colin Stokes to teach another packed, one-day painting course.
An acrylic painting workshop suitable for beginners and more experienced painters. Creating a finished acrylic still-life from a studio set-up, processes will include choosing and applying coloured ground, sketching out from observation, tonal underpainting, colour theory and mixing using a grey scale, and painting techniques such as "couche" and glazing. There will be plenty to take away from Colin's friendly tuition, whatever your experience level.
ABOUT THE TUTOR
Colin is a local artist specialising in watercolours, exhibiting his work his work in different galleries around the UK.
MATERIALS NEEDED
Essential materials:
An 8" x 10" (20 x 25 cm) stretched canvas or canvas board
Good (artist or student) quality acrylic paints in the following colours: Ultramarine Blue, Titanium White, Burnt Umber, Cadmium Yellow Light and Alizarin Crimson.
A stay wet palette or a shallow plastic container with an air tight lid (eg. tupperware) to use as a pallette.
Recommended (similar can be borrowed from Arts Centre on the day):
Paint brushes for acrylics (synthetic are cheaper) in the following specifications: #10 flat, #6 round, #4 flat, #4 round or filbert.
Diamond shaped palette knife, #45.
3B pencil.
