Create a Stitched Panel Inspired by Georgio Morandi (one-day course)
with Janet Edmonds

Saturday 27 September, 10.30am - 4pm
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
The paintings of Italian artist Georgio Morandi demonstrate the simple beauty of light on forms with subtle colouration and deft brushwork. He captures the essence of simple objects and familiar landscapes that exude a mellow and intimate serenity. This course is for those who wish to sxplore the work of Morandi and to be inspired to make textured surfaces with small scale stitching, working in the quiet neutral colour palette as shown in his paintings. Suitable for all levels.
ABOUT THE TUTOR
Janet has a passion for drawing and stitching the infinite detail of organic surfaces. Drawing is fundamental to her practice and visual research is the means through which she develops practical work.
With experience in ceramics, art and design, Janet constructs with fabric and thread, to create both 2D and 3D pieces. This process of making advances slowly over time, giving space to evaluate and adjust technique when necessary. The building blocks of countryside and organic structures develop slowly too, with weathering and seasonal adjustment adding variety and inspiration.
Janet is an experienced tutor delivering courses throughout the UK. She is a member of the Buckinghamshire Craft Guild and the author of four books on Embroidery.
