An introduction to the various techniques of monotype - one of the most spontaneous methods of printmaking. Perfect if you're already interested in drawing or painting, students will see how the same skills apply in prints. Suitable for all abilities and levels of confidence!
Thu 24 Feb – 11am-1.30pm
Make an expanding drawing on folded paper, working from a mixture of observation and imagination. Students will be introduced to drawing with wet and dry soft pastels and learn new techniques. We'll take inspiration from current artists who use these techniques professionally.
Wed 13-Thu 14 Apr - 11am-1.30pm
Relief-Printing A Story
Over this two-day workshop students will create a sequence of three prints which tell a mini story. You’ll be shown how to make relief prints by carving designs into printing blocks and we'll experiment with how to make wordless images tell a story. Inspired by zines and comics - but you don't have to draw in a comic book style for this to work, bring your own style! You'll pick up tips and tricks for this satisfying technique that you can use for your own projects
