Chris & Freya Bramble - Ceramics Talk & Demo

A very special event as part of the 2022 Queens Park Pottery Festival.

Join us in our Limelight Theatre space for a talk and demonstration from Chris and Freya Bramble.

Chris Bramble has been making ceramic art for over 30 years, as well as teaching in schools and colleges. Chris’s daughters Freya and Yolande both grew up with clay at their fingertips. Pottery is the family trade. Together they love to make art with people of all ages in a small and intimate way in their shared London studio. 

Chris' hand-crafted pots and ceramic sculpture bring together his interest in the European sculptural tradition, and a love of African craftsmanship, shape and form. Sculpted faces and torsos emerge from the wheel-thrown vessels and shapes. Making each piece is a meditation, and a spiritual and emotional activity which shared with everyone. 

Freya studied fine art at Chelsea College of Arts Freya but first learned the craft of clay under her father’s guidance, and then through teaching, but enjoys the process of ‘unlearning’ the rules when it comes to making her own pieces. Having always felt a strong physical connection to the clay she works with, Freya believes in creating pieces with soul, that inspire and become a source of energy in the home. Her work ranges from fine homewares including plates and bowls to sculptural pieces for the home and garden.

Both Chris and Freya place an importance on teaching and sharing with the community. This demonstration is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy seeing Chris and Freya work on a large, complex assembled and carved double skinned vessel and sculpture.
