Creatures Moving - Clay Sculpture Workshop
with Jennifer Lowe
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
This workshop is ideal for those with a little experience of clay who would like to extend their handbuilding skills and learn new techniques (suitable for improvers up). You will work on to a metal armature (like those used by ceramicist Paul Priest), enabling the maker to have better control of the clay for more complex or delicate sculptures. You will build your own animal form with particular emphasis on expressive posture and movement - expect expert tips and insights from Jennifer’s own work. At the end of the workshop you will be able to take your sculpture home with knowledge of how to continue working on it. Everyone has the option to have their sculpture fired once dry in the QPAC kiln for a charge of £4.50. Full instructions on how to remove the armature, (once the clay is leather hard) will be demonstrated before the end of the day.
ABOUT THE TUTOR
Jennifer was an art teacher for over 40 years before retiring to pursue making techniques for ceramic animal sculpture. Jennifer has sold her work thorugh many galleries and art fairs across the UK and in Spain.
