Teens Summer Pottery - Age 13-17 yrs

Join Anna Hayward and get creative with stoneware clay in the school holidays!

ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS

Each 3 hour session gives young creatives a chance to work on a pottery project guided by an expert tutor. We will be using stoneware clay, so your creations will be kiln fired and can be collected from reception at a later date.

Pottery Throwing

Learn to use a pottery wheel or develop your skills in this beginner-friendly throwing session, in which we will cover the basics as well as challenging ourselves to try a range of shapes and forms using a variety of techniques.

Handbuilding - Functional Ware

This workshop will focus on handbuilidng techniques used to make tableware, from mugs, to plates and bowls. We will use a variety of these techniques to create unique, structural and functional ceramics.

Sculpture - A Window to Another World

This workshop will develop sculptural skills in handbuilding, as we create framed dioramas that tell a story. Come with ideas of a story to tell or take inspiration from artists in a variety of media on the day.

ABOUT THE TUTOR

Anna is a production designer and artist, and has been developing their ceramics practice since starting at QPAC 15 years ago. Their primary focus is on sculpture that tells a story, often picking out common tales and putting an unexpected or fantastical spin on them. She has been tutoring for the past 5 years and loves to share knowledge and a passion for clay!

WHAT TO BRING

All materials and tools will be provided.

An apron or old clothes will be necessary, and please do bring images or notes for inspiration if you have them! Resources and inspiration images will be provided on the day as well.
