Sculpture from the Figure (four-week course)
with Belinda Hunt
Four-sessions held on consecutive Saturdays, 10.00 - 12.30, 2nd - 23rd March
This fantastic new short course with Belinda will provide the opportunity to create a figurative sculpture from a life model in the studio. The workshop will enable participants to learn about modelling in clay from life, using traditional formal sculpting techniques. More advanced participants will be able to explore techniques in modelling of abstraction and increased porosity if they wish.
Participants will be shown how to decorate works once finished and will be able to either take away their works unfired to decorate once hard, or to leave them for firing to collect at a later date. (Depending on size of work, participants may need to complete hollowing out work at a later date, but will be shown how to do this so that larger works can still be fired successfully.)
No prior experience is required or skill in arts or crafts and the course is fully tutored.
ABOUT THE TUTOR
Belinda Hunt is an Art Therapist, Artist and Teacher who uses art to focus on wellbeing and health and on our relation to each other and to our planet. She works with individuals and groups, promoting personal and social wellbeing through the art process and art outcomes.
Her art covers various media in 2D and 3D and has exhibited locally as well as in Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, London and Scotland.
She trained as a Fine Artist at Byam Shaw School of Art, then in Figurative Sculpture at Heatherley School of Art, and Art Therapy at the University of Hertfordshire. She also works as an Art Historian and has written books on the subject.
WHAT TO BRING
Please bring thick plastic (eg. heavy duty waste bags) to wrap your sculpture and keep it damp to work on the following week.
Other materials and clay are included, additional charges apply for glaze firing, or for attending extra QPAC sessions for hollowing out or glazing after the workshop day.
Participants may wish to bring aprons/old shirts
