Experimental Landscape Drawing in Charcoal
with Liz Cotgreave
Wednesday 1 April | 10am-4pm
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Charcoal is a wonderful medium for atmospheric and expressive landscape drawings. Come along to this one-day workshop with artist Liz Cotgreave to get hands on and see what it can do! This workshop is suitable for all levels, beginners welcome!
Liz uses a range of tools and techniques to create interesting marks and textures in her drawings. She works experimentally both outdoors and from photos and videos taken in the landscape. She often finds inspiration in what happens by accident as she draws.
During this playful workshop you will try out some of these ways of working including drawing with a cloth, creating light with erasure, using stencils and more! You will get ideas for ‘finding what you want to draw’, see what happens as you experiment with marks and textures, and use what you’ve learned to make a longer drawing in the afternoon.
