An Introduction to Screen-Printing

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

This is a beginner-friendly course and those with some experience are also welcome. Participants will use hand-made stencils, layering colours and forms, to create bold images that are either abstract or figurative. Silk screens and materials are all included, all you have to do is bring along your creativity and curiosity!

WHAT TO BRING

All materials are included in the workshop price but you may want to bring an apron with you. Drinks and snacks are on offer from the Coffee Bar onsite.

    Advanced Still Life Oil Painting

    ABOUT THE WORKSHOP This advanced still life oil painting workshop is designed for artists looking to refine their technical skills and deepen their understanding of composition, light, and form. Working from a carefully arranged still life setup, you will focus on colour harmony, tonal control, edges, and creating convincing texture and depth. Emphasis will be placed on observation, subtle colour mixing, and developing a strong sense of atmosphere. Individual guidance and group discussion will help you push your work further and resolve paintings with confidence. Ideal for experienced painters seeking to strengthen their practice. ABOUT THE TUTOR Lizzy Freemantle is predominantly a figurative oil painter known for her narrative layered work that explores connections and patterns through time. Her work explores many classical themes and ideas from early iconography and influences throughout art history, reworking ideas from the Renaissance all the way to the postmodern period. She studied atelier training with Sadie Valeri and has attended many workshops with many world renowned artists. She has a BA in Art History. She has shown in prestigious exhibitions in London such as the ING Discerning eye, Green & Stone Summer exhibition and in and around Oxford and Buckinghamshire. WHAT TO BRING All materials are provided and are included in the workshop fee but you are welcme to bring your own oil painting materials if you wish. There will be a break for lunch in the middle of the session. Snacks and drinks are available from the QPAC Coffee Bar but you may want to bring your own packed lunch.

    Painting & Drawing, Weekly Workshop

    Painting with Acrylics (Weekly Class)

    Thursdays (10am-12.30pm) during term time. Explore and develop your creativity as a member of this friendly weekly workshop. Work from reference photographs in your chosen media (e.g. pencil, charcoal, acrylics). The group also do occasional projects to encourage exploration of techniques and development of skills by looking at the work of different artists (e.g. Picasso, Matisse, Fedden, Van Gogh) or through more specific themes such as perspective. Themes are set approximately every 3 weeks and you may work from your own photograph or those provided by the tutor. Suitable for all levels including beginners. Bring your own materials. The painting studio has plenty of easels and drawing boards. Additional materials such as paints, paper and brushes are available to buy from the QPAC art shop. Tutor Amanda Curbishley joined QPAC as a member of this group in 2002 and has gone on to exhibit and sell work at local exhibitions. She wants to share the enjoyment she has from painting and encourage others to develop their skills.
