ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Poet Ayşe Kongur will be leading a fun and imaginative workshop with teens on visual poetry using old typewriters from her collection and bygone graphic reproduction techniques, dry transfer letters, markers, technical pens, compass and collage.

This workshop will give participants aged 12-17 a chance to put their hands to work using an analogue way of thinking, disconnecting from the digital and embracing creative sparks borne out of experiment, chance and random juxtaposition using words and taking inspiration from the avant-garde. Conventional hand writing as well as imagery and drawing will be implemented in the compositions bringing the image and text together.

WHAT TO BRING

Please bring a snack and a bottle of water, or there is a coffee bar on site. There will be a break to eat your snack during the workshop. Materials required for the workshop will be provided by the centre, but feel free to bring in any inspiration images or ideas you may have along with crafting materials you might want to experiement with.
