Nerikomi Ceramics (whole day course)
with Freya Froggatt-Smith
Thursday 30 July | 10am - 4pm
OR
Friday 31 July | 10am - 4pm
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Come learn about the process of nerikomi - the Japanese art of layering coloured clays to create intricate or abstract patterns!
ABOUT THE TUTOR
Freya is an artist working in sculpture and installation, primarily interested in colour and form, often finding inspiration from the ready made. She is currently creating playful sculptures made of moving pieces that invite the viewers interaction and has been exploring how everyday experiences of play and safety have an impact on our physical and emotional health
WHAT TO BRING
Materials are included in the workshop price and there will be some tools available to use at the centre, but if you own your own pottery tools - particularly a pottery knife, needle tool and metal rib - you may want to bring them with you (be sure to clean any clay off the tools as you will be using white and coloured clay in the workshop!). There will be a break for lunch in the middle of each session - Drinks and Snacks are available from the QPAC Coffee Bar but you may want to bring your own packed lunch.
