Carved Wood Ware and Kitchen Tools (3 day course)
with Jeremy Turner
Monday 3 - Wednesday 5 August | 10am - 4pm
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
During this three day workshop you can make a variety of items useful in the kitchen such as a spoon, spatula spurtle and stirrer to cook with and a scoop to dispense food to your chickens or budgerigar. Then for the table, you can make a dish or a bowl. You will be able to use an axe for splitting wood to size on a chopping block, then shape it in a bench vice, and shaving horse, using drawknife, spokeshave, mallet and carving gouge. All wood and tools provided.
ABOUT THE TUTOR
I have been making things in wood since the 1970s. From small pendants, coasters, dishes and bowls to large carved and constructed public art commissions. I also draw a lot and carve relief panels for my personal artwork.
WHAT TO BRING
Materials and woodcarving tools will be provided, but please bring your own sketchbook and drawing tools, plus any kitchen items you would like to try to reproduce, copy or redesign.
There will be a break for lunch on each day - snacks and drinks are available at the QPAC Coffee Bar but you may want to bring your own packed lunch.
