In 1945, Olive Kemp became WPC1 – the first woman police constable in Buckinghamshire. She quickly made the news thanks to her accomplishments and commendations… but the story the press told of her career isn’t quite the truth.

Now living in retirement, Olive finds herself looking back at the landmarks in her career, and the legacy of what it meant to be WPC1.

Based on true local history, this new one-act play is performed as part of the 2026 Buckinghamshire History Festival, and is produced by QPAC’s award-winning in-house storytelling company Unbound.
