with Christine Green
Saturday 19 September | 10am - 4pm
£60 std | £55 members
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Christine has developed a style of patching inspired by Japanese Boro, patching on to a piece of backing fabric or a garment and using hand stitching to build up layers of fabric. Students will stitch either a panel that can be turned into a variety of items (phone case, bag, cushion, throw etc) at home or patch/embellish a garment of non stretchy fabric of their own, eg. jeans, jacket skirt.
ABOUT THE TUTOR
Christine is passionate about art and design across many disciplines and enjoys sharing this passion with her students. She takes a holistic approach to art and craft, often mixing and matching disciplines and styles. She trained as a graphic designer and worked for the BBC creating title sequences. She gained her PGCE at Goldsmiths and now run numerous courses teaching various styles of patchworking, and paper cutting. She also give inspirational talks and demonstrations and workshops. She take a relaxed approach to her crafts and encourage her students to do the same whilst developing their techniques and style, and providing them with individual support as they grow in confidence.
WHAT TO BRING
Sewing tools and material will be provided, however students with their own kit may want to bring it along, along with their own threads and fabrics. If you have a garment of non-stretch fabric (ie jeans, a jacket, shirt etc) you may want to bring it along too to patch onto it during the workshop. There is a coffee bar for snacks and drinks onsite, but participants may want to bring a packed lunch too.
