Watercolour for Beginners - Part 1 (3-week course)

ABOUT THE CLASS
In this course, you'll learn the basics of watercolour painting and develop the skills needed to create beautiful works of art. Whether you're completely new to painting or have some experience with other mediums, this course is perfect for anyone who wants to explore the beauty and versatility of watercolours. This course is suitable for beginners, those returning to using watercolours, or those wanting to try out some different techniques. You will learn some of the basic techniques such as blending, washes, and wet on wet, through painting various subjects with this beautiful medium.

WHAT TO BRING
(Bundles of watercolour paints / brushes are available at the QPAC Art Shop)
*Selection of watercolour paints (either pans or tubes)
*White gouache paint (small tube)
*Selection of brushes (such as a size 10 and 4 round, and a larger flat brush 1/2 inch - 1 inch)
*A4 Watercolour paper pad (minimum 250 gsm cold pressed/NOT paper)
*Masking fluid (ideally frisk masking fineliner/ needle tip)
Flat board (cardboard/ foamboard/ wooden drawing board)
Small painting sponge

ABOUT THE TUTOR
Leila Ward is a Tring-based artist who studied Art and Design at Loughborough University School of Art and Design. She has experimented with different mediums over the years, and particularly likes drawing/ painting animals, and using watercolour, acrylic, and printing techniques. Leila enjoys making art more accessible to others, showing people that anyone can create art.
