Stitch Panel Inspired by Van Gogh

Tue 12 Nov 10.30am - 4pm ABOUT THE WORKSHOP Van Gogh wished to make art that would depict the extraordinary nature of ordinary objects, people and places. Be inspired by his vibrant colour combinations and surface textures that suggest movement, energy and depth. The mark making seen in this popular artist’s paintings translates beautifully into stitched surfaces. Suitable for all levels. ABOUT THE TUTOR Janet has a passion for drawing and stitching the infinite detail of organic surfaces. Drawing is fundamental to her practice and visual research is the means through which she develops practical work. With experience in ceramics, art and design, Janet constructs with fabric and thread, to create both 2D and 3D pieces. This process of making advances slowly over time, giving space to evaluate and adjust technique when necessary. The building blocks of countryside and organic structures develop slowly too, with weathering and seasonal adjustment adding variety and inspiration. Janet is an experienced tutor delivering courses throughout the UK. She is a member of the Buckinghamshire Craft Guild and the author of four books on Embroidery.
